U.S. KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT:
Are America’s K-12 schools, colleges, and universities teaching American civics?

Preserving our constitutional freedoms requires each generation of citizens to understand the Constitution’s purposes and principles. Correspondingly, ignorance of the Constitution represents a threat to our constitutional freedoms. Hillsdale College requires its students to complete a one-semester course on the Constitution. And through its Barney Charter School Initiative, Hillsdale helps launch and guide classical K-12 charter schools nationwide—all of which provide their students a proper understanding of American history and government. Today, we are asking you what you think of the quality of civics education in your state and community. Feedback from our friends nationwide will help us shape our strategy as we expand our educational outreach to millions more Americans.
